3 Day Retreat - It's Got Something For Everyone!

Shoup Glacier Tour/Cabin Accommodations / Chitina River Historical Boat Cruise

1st Day- Arrive at the Kenny Lake Cozy Cabin for an evening of relaxation and sightseeing. Take a walk to the Tonsina River Bluff and enjoy a mile long hike down the bluff trail.

Perfect area for bird watching and picnicking. Next, check out the little town of Kenny Lake, Alaska and chat with the friendly locals. Have dinner at the Kenny Lake Mercantile or the Silver Fox, all within 5 miles of the cabin. When you get back and you’re all settled in for the night, enjoy a restful evening in a comfy double bed, all linens supplied. There’s also a set of bunk beds for the kids! The one bedroom cabin has water and electricity. The kitchen is equipped with a propane cooking stove, refrigerator, and double sink. There is a T.V and V.C.R in the cozy living room area.

2nd Day- 2007 Shoup Glacier Extravaganza- Departs 9:00 a.m. from Valdez Leave the cabin at approx.7:00 a.m. for a 1 and ½ hour drive to Valdez. You will head south on the Richardson Highway to Valdez, commonly known as “Alaska’s little Switzerland”. This is one of the most spectacular, easiest drives in Alaska!  As you drive towards Valdez through Thompson Pass, you will see the impressive Worthington Glacier, which sits close to the main road on your right. Next, through Keystone Canyon, you'll be awed by the beautiful rock formations and the two waterfalls, Bridal Falls and Horsetail Falls. Plan on spending some time at these places on your way back, later on in the day. Then, get ready for a cruise to Shoup Glacier, the most popular destination in Prince William Sound! The Sound is famous for it’s pristine waters and a countless variety of wildlife, including whales, eagles, kittiwakes, seals, and puffinsThis is our #1 tour! When the cruise ends, spend the rest of the day on your own, exploring the sites of Valdez, and then head back to the Kenny Lake Cozy Cabin for the evening. Spend the evening fishing at one of the nearby streams, or picnicking at Squirrel Creek.

3rd Day - Copper River Historical River Cruise- Travel the famous Copper River with Hem Charters for a 1 and ½ hour breathtaking tour! During this interpretive cruise, you’ll learn about the old, historical, Copper River Northwestern Railway, and the stories of the men and women who built it. You’ll see weathered and worn trestles, fishermen dip-netting for salmon, big, wooden, salmon wheels churning the river, and lots of beautiful, natural scenery. This area is brimming with a variety of wildlife; beautiful birds, including majestic eagles and brown hawks, and you might even spot a bear, or a sheep! This is an exhilarating, unforgettable cruise! When the cruise is finished, explore the little town of Chitina on your own. Check out the Art Shop for souvenirs, or have a bite to eat at the local restaurant.

Meals are not supplied. Payments for meals are separate and are not part of the package price.  You may buy food at the grocery store and cook/ eat your meals at the cabin.
